Join singer/ songwriter of the international hit, You Are Not Alone Meredith O'Connor, Billboard's World Albums Afropop artist Reekado Banks, and Psychiatrist and founder of the MINDS foundation Dr. Raghu Appasani for a conversation on mental health awareness across cultures. In this panel we will discuss why it is important to be an advocate in the music industry, and how each panelist uses their platform to create change in the mental health space.

MEET THE PANELISTS:

MEREDITH O'CONNOR
Meredith O'Connor is recognized as iconic for her anti-bullying activism, and through her music success has spearheaded a partnership with The National Alliance on Mental Illness, uniting some of the most prominent names Kpop,
Afropop, and other recording artists from all different parts of the
world.

DR. RAGHU KIRAN APPASANI
Dr. Raghu Kiran Appasani is a Psychiatrist, Neuroscientist, Mental
Health Advocate, and Social Entrepreneur focused on bridging the gap
between western and eastern practices to create a wholesome society. He is also the Founder & CEO of the mental health nonprofit, The MINDS Foundation.

REEKADO BANKS
Reekado Banks is one of the biggest names in Afropop. He is regarded as one of Africa’s most consistent hitmakers and has collaborated with pop star Wizkid, East African songstress, Vanessa Mdee, rapper Ycee and many more. Reekado Banks released his 21-track debut album, SPOTLIGHT which placed 10th on Billboard's 2016 World Albums Chart, and earned a Headies Award for Best Album of the Year.

This final Vocal Health and Wellness Musicares Webinar will focus on the multiple layers of discovery, vocal change and development trans and non-binary singing artists face; including gender cues, confidence, authenticity, anatomy, physiology and the unique psychological journey of the voice which is crucial to the artistic success of this extraordinary population of singers. Musicares Webinar Host MzLyndia is joined by Matthew Mills and Gillie Stoneham, authors of The Voice Book for Trans and Non-Binary People and Liz Jackson Hearns author of One Weird Trick: A User’s Guide to Transgender Voice and The Singing Teacher’s Guide to Transgender Voices. MusiCares will be offering complimentary dental appointments to music professionals in Boston on Tuesday, May 18th.  Services will be provided by Westbrook Family Dental Care and will include x-rays, teeth cleaning, and dental treatment planning.  MusiCares will cover the cost of the preventive dental care services to those who are eliglble.*

Appointments are limited and scheduled on a first-come-first-served basis.

Those who register for and attend an appointment agree to the general agreement/release of liability waiver included below.
