MusiCares will be offering complimentary dental appointments to music professionals in New Orleans, LA.  Appointments will be held at Tulane Family Dentistry and will include x-rays, teeth cleaning, and dental treatment planning.  MusiCares will cover the cost of the preventative dental care services to those who are eliglble.*

 

Appointments are limited and scheduled on a first-come-first-served basis.

On May 8th, join MusiCares for a free virtual online benefit screening of the feature film drama THE CAT AND THE MOON written, directed, and starring Alex Wolff (Jumanji, Hereditary, Naked Brothers Band). The screening will be followed by a 30-40 minute conversation with film's writer, director and star, Alex Wolff along with Entertainment Emotional Wellness Coach, Cristi Williams, and moderated by Entertainment Writer, Lawrence Ferber

The Cat and The Moon centers on teenager Nick (Wolff), who comes to New York City to temporarily live with a jazz musician friend of his late father’s named Cal (Epps) while his mom is in rehab. During his time in the city, he befriends a group of kids who show him what New York has to offer.

Join singer/ songwriter of the international hit, You Are Not Alone Meredith O'Connor, Billboard's World Albums Afropop artist Reekado Banks, and Psychiatrist and founder of the MINDS foundation Dr. Raghu Appasani for a conversation on mental health awareness across cultures. In this panel we will discuss why it is important to be an advocate in the music industry, and how each panelist uses their platform to create change in the mental health space.

MEREDITH O'CONNOR
Meredith O'Connor is recognized as iconic for her anti-bullying activism, and through her music success has spearheaded a partnership with The National Alliance on Mental Illness, uniting some of the most prominent names Kpop,
Afropop, and other recording artists from all different parts of the
world.

DR. RAGHU KIRAN APPASANI
Dr. Raghu Kiran Appasani is a Psychiatrist, Neuroscientist, Mental
Health Advocate, and Social Entrepreneur focused on bridging the gap
between western and eastern practices to create a wholesome society. He is also the Founder & CEO of the mental health nonprofit, The MINDS Foundation.

REEKADO BANKS
Reekado Banks is one of the biggest names in Afropop. He is regarded as one of Africa’s most consistent hitmakers and has collaborated with pop star Wizkid, East African songstress, Vanessa Mdee, rapper Ycee and many more. Reekado Banks released his 21-track debut album, SPOTLIGHT which placed 10th on Billboard's 2016 World Albums Chart, and earned a Headies Award for Best Album of the Year.
