Snoh Aalegra Shows She's "DYING 4 YOUR LOVE" For Press Play

The Iranian and Swedish singer/songwriter delivers an artful and soulful stripped-down take on her latest single from home

Jul 30, 2020 - 11:16 am

From her very first vocal run, you may not be surprised Snoh Aalegra is inspired by the greatness and style of Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder and Mariah Carey. Let Aalegra's smooth and sultry voice lure you in with her bare and beautiful version of "DYING 4 YOUR LOVE."

Aalegra and her gorgeous voice take center stage in the latest edition of Press Play At Home. Draped in light projection and accompanied only by a simple and soothing keyboard, Aalegra intimately confesses to her deepest emotions and to believing she'd found the one.

Co-written by Aalegra and Ari Pensmith an produced by P2J, "DYING 4 YOUR LOVE" was released as a single earlier this month. The new song follows her latest full-length, last year's critically acclaimed -Ugh, those feels again.

The LA-based Iranian singer/songwriter, who was born and raised in Sweden, Aalegra wrote her first song at 9 years old. She had the pleasure of being mentored by Prince for three years before his death, and she also counts famed producer No I.D. as a mentor and one of her favorite collaborators.

Sit back and enjoy Aalegra's performance of "DYING 4 YOUR LOVE" for Press Play At Home, and dive deeper into her music here.

Press Play: Chris Grey Blends R&B, Rock And Classical For A Must-See Performance Of His Sensual Track "Seamless"

Canadian singer/songwriter and producer Chris Grey fuses worlds for his electric performance of "Seamless," in the latest episode of Press Play

Canadian singer/songwriter and producer Chris Grey is onto something. Fusing elements of R&B, hard rock and classical music seems like the overly ambitious works of a mad scientist, but with Grey leading the way, the experiment results in a must-see performance.

In the latest episode of Press Play, the former full-time producer turned artist delivers a magnetic performance of his most recent single, "Seamless."

Watch below to see Grey command the stage and bring the sensual track to life.

Watch Chris Grey Fuse Genres & Perform "Seamless"

Throughout the three-minute performance, the 20-year-old doesn't miss a note while bouncing back and forth from hyping up his violinist to rocking alongside his electric guitarist — as if he's mixing the chemicals of the track in real time. Grey began producing songs before he was even a teenager but credits the diverse backgrounds of his parents for his effortless ability to combine genres.

Both of Grey's parents were born in Kingston; his dad in Kingston, Jamaica, and his mom in Kingston, Canada. This introduced the "Seamless" singer to two distinct worlds of music — two worlds he seems primed to bring together.

"I'm up in the club / But I'm looking for something. / I don't know what it is / But I know it's one thing / I can't waste the night away on nothing," Haitian-American singer/host/comedian Jessie Woo sings on "Vacation."

For the latest edition of GRAMMY.com's Press Play At Home video series (watch below!), the Miami-based songstress brings us on a much needed vacation with a rooftop performance of the breezy track.

Jessie Woo Sings "Vacation" | Press Play

"No fake friends, only day one b****es / I've been waiting all day for / One night vacation," she continues in the chorus, invoking a celebratory, fun night out with friends we've certainly all missed over the months of quarantine.

"Vacation" is from Woo's 2019 debut EP, Moods Of A Cancer, and is a nod to her Haitian roots, featuring lyrics in Haiti's official language, Kreyòl. The vibrant music video was filmed in Haiti, with scenic aerial views from the Citadelle, a 19th Century fortress.

She first came into the spotlight by organically growing a big social media following, building a supportive community of women, the Seesters, on Instagram, and with hosting spots for BET, Twitter and more. Music is an important part of who she is, as she's been singing and playing drums since a young age and grew up in a musical family.

Watch: Durand Bernarr Unleashes "Melody" For Press Play At Home

Woo sites Whitney Houston, Shania Twain and Celine Dion as her all-time favorite singers, and with confident lyrics, warm vocals and fierce energy, she is already channeling that big diva energy.

We hadn't had a brand new album from JoJo since her 2016 Mad Love., but now that has all changed. The GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter's fourth album good to know is out now and in it, she gives us a song that reveals exactly what she wants in a "Man."

The single reveals JoJo has been okay on her own but would give up her single-lady life for a man that loves her the way she loves herself. Produced by BeatGodz and Fade Majah, JoJo performs a slightly stripped-down version of "Man" for the latest rendition of Press Play.

JoJo, who counts Aretha Franklin, Erykah Badu, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston among her influences, was 12 years old when she signed her first record deal. Many may remember her for her hit "Leave (Get Out)" that reached No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2004 when she was 13 years old.

Watch the full performance of "Man" above.
