Electric Forest festival 2018 excited fans of trippy jam and electronic music and summer festivals announcing their #EF2018 lineup on Dec. 1.

Like the festival's performers themselves, Electric Forest has earned a reputation for high-energy sounds and musical experiments of many kinds.

The top-line bands playing in both 4-day periods are Bassnectar, Griz Live Band, Rüfüs Du Sol, the String Cheese Incident, and Zhu. Second-line artists playing both are Bonobo (Live), Chromeo, Cut Copy, Gryffin, Louis The Child, Malaa, Marian Hill, the Glitch Mob, and Xavier Rudd.

The first weekend begins June 21 and continues through June 24 with Galantis, Green Velvet, Jauz, Keys N Krates, Lil Dicky, and Washed Out performing the first weekend only.

The second weekend begins June 28 and continues through July 1, exclusively with Datsik, Get Real, Marshmello, Rezz, Superduperkyle, and Testpilot (an alias of Deadmau5).

While the many recipients of GRAMMY nominations on the program is a tip to high quality, the invitingly diverse names on the bill provide the real #EF2018 edge. Surely many more will wish to attend than can, but that feeling will become all too familiar as more 2018 music festival lineups are announced.

This week, Electric Forest announced the massive initial lineup for their upcoming 10th anniversary music festival, taking place in the woods of Rothbury, Mich. on June 25-28, 2020.

The topline headliner, jam band The String Cheese Incident, will perform three "Incidents" in 2020 and have played every festival since its inception in 2011. Their fellow headliners—BASSNECTAR, GRAMMY winner (and current 2020 GRAMMY nominee) Flume, Major Lazer, Big Gigantic, Louis The Child and The Disco Biscuits—have rocked the fest in prior years. Diplo, the GRAMMY-winning superproducer who is also one-third of electro-dancehall act Major Lazer, will be throwing down his first-ever Electric Forest solo set.

Over a hundred artists were revealed for the big anniversary lineup and also include iconic GRAMMY-winning rapper Big Boi, first-time GRAMMY nominees YBN Cordae and Boys Noize, as well as The Black Madonna and Princess Nokia, all of whom will make their debut in the laser-filled forest next summer.

The 10-year-old music and arts fest is beloved by electronic music kids the world over as well as fans of alternative, left-of-center music in general, with its eclectic lineup serving up healthy doses of jam bands, house favorites, bass heavyweights and other exciting electro-infused acts and surprises. The 2020 event will also feature Nigerian afrobeat musician (and past GRAMMY nominee) Femi Kuti with his band the Positive Force, trippy bass favorites The Glitch Mob and Justin Jay, who will be bringing his lively live band experience, Fantastic Voyage, to the fest.

Others bringing the vibey house beats include Moon Boots and Rodriquez Jr., each of whom will be performing live sets. Past GRAMMY nominee Elderbrook, as well as German underground legend Patrice Bäumel and RÜFÜS DU SOL-signee Willaris. K. Bass head favorites CloZee, Rusko and Cashmere Cat will bring the womp, while Gryffin, DJ Holographic and Mija will also keep the forest nymphs grooving to their genre-melting jams.

As for artists representing more alternative/electro-pop sounds, Empress Of, Holy Ghost!, The California Honeydrops, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Haiku Hands, have you covered.

EF2020 highlights include Turkuaz with Jerry Harrison & Adrian Belew of Talking Heads who will perform Remain in Light in honor of the album turning 40."

Electric Forest 2019 also took place over four days and saw ODESZA Kygo, Zeds Dead, Bassnectar and The String Cheese Incident—the latter two who return in 2020—headline.

The Loyalty ticket pre-sale launched today and runs until tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. ET, after which the general sale will launch, at 10 a.m. ET. Visit electricforestfestival.com for more info and the complete lineup announcement.

In addition to the Killers, previously nominated artists performing this summer include Bastille, Neneh Cherry, the Cure, Miley Cyrus, Fatoumata Diawara, Liam Gallagher, Jon Hopkins, Hot Chip, Hozier, Janelle Monáe, Jorja Smith, Tame Impala, and Wu-Tang Clan.

One of the joys of a curated festival like Glastonbury is experiencing new acts, from the established to those just on the radar. Two accomplished artists who stand out are the band Interpol and British rapper Stefflon Don. Others include Anne-Marie, Billie Eilish, Michael Kiwanuka, Lizzo, Pale Waves, Cat Power, Latin GRAMMY winner Rosalía, Sharon Van Etten, Kurt Vile & The Violators, and Kamasi Washington.

Although Glastonbury 2019 has already sold out, the festival encourages those wanting to attend to register at their website for an April ticket resale.

Electric Forest Festival is officially returning to Rothbury, Michigan June 27-30, 2019, for a long weekend of dancing among trees and lasers. The fest has announced the lineup, which includes GRAMMY-nominated ethereal electronic duo ODESZA, tropical house DJ/producer Kygo and bass music heavy-hitters Bassnectar and Zeds Dead as the headliners.

The full lineup, like the headliners, also includes a solid offering of artists across the sounds of the electronic music spectrum, including GRAMMY-nominated deep house duo Bob Moses, Detroit house OG Claude VonStroke, pop/dance collab champs Hippie Sabotage, upbeat house duo Gorgon City, female bass powerhouses Alison Wonderland and TOKiMONSTA and one of the leading ladies of underground house, Honey Dijon.

Fest On: Vampire Weekend, The Lumineers, GRiZ & More Make Stacked Hangout Music Fest Lineup

The event is scaling back to a one weekend event from two the past two years and on top of the plenty of electronic artists and jam bands, also has some hip-hop artists to round things out. The jam band contingency is led by The String Cheese Incident, an Electronic Forest mainstay, who will be offering three performances over the weekend. Others include the Floozies, Lettuce and Twiddle, plus STS9, who blurs the line of electronic music, psych-rock and even hip-hop and could really fall in either category. GRAMMY winner T-Pain represents the smaller hip-hop contingency, along with rising female rapper Tierra Whack.

In addition to plenty of music to keep you dancing in the forest all weekend long, the event also offers a "Curated Event Series," yoga classes, silent disco, plus a VIP lodge camping offering. The full lineup plus more info on ticket options are available on Electric Forest's site.
