Kelly Clarkson Set To Headline 2018 U.S. Open Ceremony
If you're into sports ball, then some of you will know that another national holiday is fast approaching: the U.S. Open. (That's tennis for the rest of us who are still reeling after that World Cup final.) If you're into music and sports, then we have even better news. Kelly Clarkson is set to headline this year's opening ceremony.
The GRAMMY-winning singer/songwriter will take the stage at Arthur Ashe Stadium near New York on Aug. 27. She will headline the 50th anniversary opening day celebration prior to two weeks of intense competition. With that kind of kick off, we hope this year's tennis stars can bring an equal amount of powerhouse know-how to their trade.
"We are honored to have such a talented performer join us in this very special year," said USTA Chairman of the Board and President Katrina Adams, according to Billboard. "Kelly Clarkson's musical versatility, her unparalleled presence and of course her voice, will make this a night to remember."
After all, what would a sporting event be without the music?
