Skipping out on a free ride to Berklee School of Music, singer/songwriter John-Robert moved from his tiny hometown of Edinburg, Virginia to Los Angeles to pursue his dreams of making music. Luckily, GRAMMY-nominated producer/songwriter Ricky Reed (whose credits include Lizzo, Bomba Estéreo, Leon Bridges, Jason Derulo and others) discovered and signed him. The rest is history.

John-Robert Sings "Adeline" | Press Play

In the latest episode of the Recording Academy's Press Play video series, John-Robert tells a tale of distant love with "Adeline," his debut single released in 2019 and written when he was just 17.

Since "Adeline," the 19-year-old storyteller, whose eclectic musical influences include The 1975, Sufjan Stevens, Jeff Buckley, Childish Gambino and Doja Cat, has shared two more original songs: "Urs," and, just this week, "Pelican." He will be dropping his debut EP, Bailey Barley Knew Me, on Reed's Nice Life/Warner Records imprint on May 22. Watch him perform "Adeline" above.

Watch Los Angeles-based alt-pop singer/songwriter and producer Victor Internet perform their latest single, 2020's "HOLLOW," from a pink-hued warehouse in the heartfelt performance below.

Victor Internet Performs "HOLLOW"

The self-penned track follows the Latinx artist's aptly titled debut album, VICTOR'S DEBUT, released in 2019 on Terrible Records. The project effortlessly blends D.I.Y. pop, R&B, indie rock, and hip-hop with honest lyrics. The album is a nod to their musical influences Frank Ocean, James Blake and Prince.

As the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic continues to rock the music industry, GRAMMY.com reached out to a few musicians to see how they were spending their days indoors. Today, New Orleans-born alt R&B singer/songwriter Ambré shares her video Quarantine Diary.

Alt R&B singer/songwriter Ambré met producer Erick Bardales in 2014 and began making music with him when she was just 17. In 2015, she released her first mixtape, Wanderlust, which was produced by Bardales. That same year, the "american beauty" singer gained recognition for her first collab with Kehlani in 2015, a cover of Drake's "Preach."

She's also collabed with the Glitch Mob, TOKiMONSTA, Keys N Krates and Ryan Hemsworth, and co-written music on H.E.R.'s GRAMMY-winning self-titled mixtape. After signing to Roc Nation in 2019, she released her major label debut project, the Pulp EP, in November 2019, followed by Pulp (Director's Cut) this past July 31.

Quarantine Diaries: Ambré

In the latest episode of GRAMMY.com's Quarantine Diaries series (watch above), the "fubu" singer brings us along for a productive day working on music and enjoying good company (her brother and Bardales) and good food while staying in her hometown of New Orleans.

"You gotta figure out new ways to live life, and it's making me a better person. As messed up as the circumstances are, you can always find the good," Ambré says in the video.

Alt-pop trio SHAED consisting of twin brothers Max and Spencer Ernst and Chelsea Lee (who is married to Spencer), had their big break in summer 2018 with their infectious hit "Trampoline." It was followed by a whirlwind 2019, where they played major festivals and shows around the world and dropped some big collabs, including a ZAYN remix of "Trampoline," whose vocals brought new life—and his massive fan base—to it.

Like so many other artists, COVID-19 put a sudden halt on their packed, globe-trotting schedule. The pause and new perspective have proven productive for them, and resulted in a lot of new, yet-to-be-released music.

"We had a group of songs before this whole quarantine situation and we kind of took a deep listen and realized that we wanted to change it up a bit," Chelsea told us. "Most of the songs we've written for this album, we wrote during these crazy months, so it definitely reflects, emotionally and mentally, what we were feeling. These songs really hit home for us and we're super excited to release them."

We catch up with the Washington D.C.-based group for the latest episode of GRAMMY.com Up Close & Personal interview video series to learn what they've been up to during quarantine—in addition to creating a new album, they've also protesting with local Black Lives Matter marches and been relaxing in their backyard.

Sharing what he learned about being an ally to the Black community, Max said, "I think it's important to listen. There's all these kind of sub-movements within the Black Lives Matter movement that are really important. Black Trans lives Matter, is super important… I think it's important that all these communities within Black Lives Matter, their voices are being elevated."

The "Melt" band also reveal how fun it was like working with Sting and Steve Aoki on the dance producer's 2019's track "2 In A Million." Watch the full conversation above!

"Chelsea loves Sting," Spencer said, smiling. "Steve Aoki is a fan of ours, and he reached out and said he'd love for us to feature on a song. So we were listening to some demos and trying to figure out which one made sense. And then he said, 'Hey, actually hold on, I got a song with Sting.' And that's when Chelsea was like 'We're doing this right away!'"
