Thirty years on, "Janie's Got a Gun" remains one of Aerosmith's most infectious, swaggering tunes.

So, it's fitting that when they won a GRAMMY for the now-classic song, they maintained that energy, strutting to the stage when the B-52s and Cyndi Lauper announced their victory.

In the latest installment of GRAMMY Rewind, watch the Bad Boys from Boston win Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal for "Janie's Got a Gun" at the 33rd GRAMMY Awards in 1991.

What do you expect Aerosmith to do when they win big at the GRAMMYs? Bow reverentially in black-tie attire and retire to the parlor for a spot of English Breakfast?

No, when presenters Vanessa Williams and Meat Loaf announce that the Bad Boys from Boston won the GRAMMY for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals for "Livin' On The Edge," the fivesome stroll onstage looking like a biker gang—as if they're ready to rock Madison Square Garden.

Watch Aerosmith Win A GRAMMY In 1994

"Why do I love rock 'n' roll? Because it gets me off!" Steven Tyler announces to the crowd, scowling in a black tank-top with his hair teased and tangled. "Everything I've ever loved was immoral, illegal, fattening or grew hair on your palms."

See above for more quotable moments from the Bad Boys from Boston in the newest episode of GRAMMY Rewind. Bring a little rock 'n' roll into your workday and click here to enjoy more episodes of the throwback video series.

In the newest episode of GRAMMY Rewind, watch Santana and Rob Thomas win Record Of The Year at the 42nd GRAMMY Awards for "Smooth," the unlikely smash-hit pairing of the classic rock legend and Matchbox Twenty leader

Jul 30, 2021 - 7:56 am

By all accounts, Santana's and Rob Thomas' 1999 megahit "Smooth" almost didn't happen. In its embryonic stages, Carlos Santana was skeptical of the tune; the AM-radio effect on Thomas's voice alone engendered its own smattering of arguments.

But in a quintessential lesson about why you should never, ever give up, "Smooth" became the second-biggest single of all time, second only to Chubby Checker's "The Twist." It also led to the 2000 GRAMMY Awards, where the unlikely pair won the GRAMMY for Record Of The Year.

In the newest episode of GRAMMY Rewind, revisit the moment 21 years ago when an unlikely gambit paid off in dividends, putting a feather in the cap of Matchbox Twenty's leader and landing a classic rocker back on the airwaves.

For its "two turntables and a microphone" hook alone, "Where It's At" seems to sit somewhere near "Loser" on Beck's list of signature songs.

And back in 1997, presenters Fiona Apple, Dwight Yoakam and Kevin Bacon launched the song into GRAMMY history at the 39th GRAMMY Awards.

Watch Beck Win GRAMMY For "Where It's At" In 1997

In the latest episode of GRAMMY Rewind, watch a baby-faced Beck astonishedly accept the GRAMMY for Best Male Rock Performance for "Where It's At"—a track off his classic 1996 album, Odelay—and give a lovably everyman speech in return.

The vocal powerhouse Amy Winehouse, who tragically passed away in 2011, is canon by now—the music world has long deemed her one of the greats.

So it’s sobering to relive the moment when Winehouse won Best New Artist—even when Winehouse was abroad at the time. (She would perform via satellite later in the show.)

Watch Amy Winehouse Win Best New Artist

In the latest episode of GRAMMY Rewind, watch a mega-exuberant Cyndi Lauper and Miley Cyrus accept the award on Winehouse’s behalf at the 50th GRAMMY Awards show in 2008.

Watch the giddy throwback clip above and check out more GRAMMY Rewind episodes here.
