Brad Paisley And Kimberly Williams-Paisley Open Free Nashville Grocery Store
On April 3, GRAMMY winner Brad Paisley broke ground at the future site of a new non-profit grocery outlet called The Store, which will allow Nashville residents in need have access to free, healthy food, CNN reports.
Launched in collaboration with his wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and his Alma matter, Belmong University, The Store will operate like a normal grocery, where guests can pick out produce and other goods. To best serve community members in need, items will be completely free.
The couple first dreamed up the idea after volunteering with their family at The Unity Shoppe in Santa Barbara, Calif. Belmont University students will be able to volunteer at The Store after it opens on campus.
During the groundbreaking ceremony yesterday, Paisley spoke to his reasons for wanting to give back to Nashville in this way: "Take away the sting of the embarrassment for the parent who maybe feels that way because they can't feed their kid. To be able to give them that dignity of, essentially why it's called this, is they can show up and say, 'Come on. We're going to The Store.'"
