Three ears after the release of their blockbuster debut, Songs About Jane, Maroon 5 took the stage at the 47th GRAMMY Awards in 2005 to accept the GRAMMY for Best New Artist from presenters Hoobastank and Tyra Banks.

Who did frontman Adam Levine shout out first? Kanye West, who was also up for that category along with Los Lonely Boys, Joss Stone and Gretchen Wilson.

"Kanye West, I want to thank you so much for being unbelievable," Levine says from the GRAMMY stage, holding the award aloft. (A white-suited Ye looks serene and agreeable about the results.) Levine then earnestly launches into a litany of friends, family and music biz giants who made the win possible.

Now that Coldplay is a stadium-filling band with seven GRAMMY wins and 30 GRAMMY nominations,"Clocks" is arguably their signature song.

This development wasn't predestined, though; it was the product of the band's keen writing and arranging as well as producer Ken Nelson's canny decision-making.

It paid off in dividends in 2004 when the band accepted Record Of The Year for "Clocks" at the 46th GRAMMY Awards from presenters Michael McDonald and Mary J. Blige.

In the latest episode of GRAMMY Rewind, roll back the time and watch the band accept the honor with their trademark humility. At the end, singer Chris Martin throws their weight behind a certain presidential candidate and departs with a polite and very British "Thanks, bye!"

"And the winner is Saturday Night Fever!" Neil Diamond crows at the top of this week's GRAMMY Rewind. The pronunciation extends far beyond that film soundtrack or its 1979 win for Album Of The Year.

Rather, the ripple effects can still be felt today. From 2017's "A GRAMMY Salute To The Music Of The Bee Gees" to a killer 2021 documentary, the Bee Gees are having an absolute renaissance these days.

Some in this life take public honors for granted, as if they're owed to them. Not Adele.

When the glitter-clad pair of Kanye West and Estelle announce her GRAMMY win for Best New Artist, Adele wells up with emotion—much like she does in her volcanic live performances.

As Adele approaches the stage, her astonished facial expression practically screams, "Pinch me."

The vocal powerhouse Amy Winehouse, who tragically passed away in 2011, is canon by now—the music world has long deemed her one of the greats.

So it’s sobering to relive the moment when Winehouse won Best New Artist—even when Winehouse was abroad at the time. (She would perform via satellite later in the show.)
