The COVID-19 pandemic has affected everything, and the GRAMMY Awards are no exception. Not only did the ceremony need to move from last January to March 14, 2021, but it’s happening in an unprecedented, partly virtual fashion.

The magnitude of the crisis flecks Miranda Lambert’s words as she chats about the 2021 GRAMMY Awards show in the latest episode of Backstage At The 63rd GRAMMYs.

“It’s prestigious. The GRAMMYs is something that every artist works really hard to be a part of,” Lambert continues. “So, I’m glad to be back here.”

What is Brandi Carlile thinking about as she prepares to find out if she’ll win Best Country Song (for "Crowded Table") or Best Song Written For Visual Media (for "Carried Me With You" from Pixar’s Onward)?

Above all, she’s ruminating on the often unspoken rapport musicians share.

"It feels so good to be on set and see people around," a grinning Carlile says in the latest episode of Backstage At The 63rd GRAMMYs. "That’s one of the things I love about the music business the most, is that everybody has these artistic threads that chain us all together."

Carlile, who also performs in the country rockers The Highwomen, goes on to note that the GRAMMYs' celebratory nature is a peer-to-peer phenomenon. "Nothing feels better than getting recognized by other people that you admire," she continues, "and getting to show other people that you’re recognizing their work."

Robert Glasper is nominated for Best R&B Song ("Better Than I Imagined") and Best Progressive R&B Album (2019's F*** Yo Feelings) at the 2021 GRAMMY Awards show. However, Glasper's sound stretches far beyond either category.

His body of work, which spans two decades, has always been a space where Black American forms like soul, R&B and hip-hop reveal their inherent bonds.

In the latest episode of Press Play At Home, Glasper shows how seamless that fusion is. He does this with a little help from singer-rapper Denzel Curry, who leads his ensemble through an incendiary version of "This Changes Everything" from the teeming mixtape F*** Yo Feelings.

DaBaby was nominated for two GRAMMYs at the 2020 GRAMMY Awards show; now, for the 2021 GRAMMY Awards show, he's doubled his luck.

"It definitely felt twice [as] impactful as last year," the rapper says in the latest episode of Backstage At The 63rd GRAMMYs. "I made a bold statement when I was nominated for them last year. I said, 'I'm going to be at the GRAMMYs and will be nominated every year of my career as a mainstream artist.'

"It's definitely a repayment for the work that I put in over the past year," he continues, noting that the COVID-19 pandemic has been a presence in our lives throughout.

However, because DaBaby put his nose to the grindstone while the world ground to a halt, "It's definitely showing me that the work I put in was absolutely worth it." Now, for the 63rd GRAMMY Awards, he’s nominated for Record Of The Year, Best Melodic Rap Performance, Best Rap Song ("Rockstar") and Best Rap Performance ("BOP").
