A good gospel album cuts straight to the soul, uplifting the spirits and reaching for a higher power to take us to new levels of understanding. This year's class of 60th GRAMMY Awards nominees have all risen to the occasion, and then some.

Meet The GRAMMY Man

Delaware native Travis Greene is up for his 2017 live album, Crossover: Live From Music City; season three winner of the BET gospel singing competition "Sunday Best" Le'Andria earned a nod for Bigger Than Me. Meanwhile, previous Commissioned group member Marvin Sapp is nominated for Close and St. Louis singer Anita Wilson is up for her motivating LP, Sunday Song. And gospel mainstay CeCe Winans earned a nod for her soaring Let Them Fall In Love.

This year's group of five albums vying for the title include Arcade Fire's fifth studio album, Everything Now, Gorillaz' collaborative album Humanz, LCD Soundsystem's first album since reuniting, American Dream, first-time GRAMY nominee Father John Misty's Pure Comedy, and the National's critically acclaimed Sleep Well Beast.

With 84 categories, the 60th GRAMMY Awards will recognize the year in music across all genres, craft categories and even visual mediums. But do you know what the first category listed on the nominations list is each year? Record Of The Year.

Rewind The Record Of The Year GRAMMY Winners

Not only is the category one of the "Big Four" General Field categories, the GRAMMY win goes to the artist, producers, recording engineers, and mixer and mastering engineers. Also, it's not to be confused with the songwriter category, Song Of The Year.
